#1 Model Coaching 2018: Personality, Body Language, Perception and Catwalk

A single intense day can make all the difference between a model who appears unsure on the catwalk and a model who immediately commands any room. That’s exactly the idea behind our Model Coaching in Cologne – and that’s why our New Faces from all over Germany come together for this format. What happens here is unique to no other German agency: an in-depth, practical training that goes far beyond classic catwalk training.

Why Model Coaching is more than just catwalk training

Many people immediately think of the catwalk when it comes to model training. But anyone who really wants to understand how to become a model quickly realises: the catwalk is just the visible tip of a much deeper iceberg. What truly makes a model successful is the ability to embody personality, fill rooms and appear authentic in every situation.

Our coaching concept was specifically developed to make exactly these invisible skills tangible. The participants learn how to take the first steps as a model professionally and which skills really count in the industry. The format is aimed at New Faces, that is, fresh faces who are just starting out in the modelling world – but also at more experienced models who want to develop further intentionally.

  • Sharpen self-awareness
  • Use body language consciously
  • Develop presence and aura
  • Process feedback professionally
  • Experience team dynamics in the group

What New Faces should bring with them

Those who take part in the coaching don’t need to be a finished supermodel – quite the opposite. What matters is the willingness to open up, accept feedback and actively participate. Those who want to know which measurements and requirements are generally relevant will find detailed information. However, the decisive factor in the coaching itself is not the ready-to-wear size, but the inner attitude.

Even those who are unsure whether they meet the classic minimum size requirements of a modelling agency are very welcome. We also support plus-size models on their journey – because the industry is becoming more diverse, and this is reflected in our coaching.

Using the power of the group

An underestimated aspect of our format is group work. When twenty new faces from different cities come together – from the Modelagency Berlin to the Modelagency Hamburg – a unique energy is created. You not only learn from the coaches, but also from each other: through observation, through joint exercises and through the honest feedback of the group.

The three coaching focuses in detail

Our coaching is divided into clear thematic blocks that build on each other. Each block is led by a specialised coach who brings years of experience in the fashion industry.

Personality and Expression

The first block focuses on what no photographer can replace: the real personality. Here, models learn how to tell their own story without saying a word. Facial expressions, gaze, body posture – all of this sends signals that the coach analyses and specifically improves. This part is often the most emotional of the day, as it requires real self-reflection.

Anyone who subsequently wants to prepare a casting professionally will quickly notice: Working on your own personality is not a soft skill, but a hard competitive advantage.

Taking up space and making an impression on others

The second block is about body language and spatial presence. How do you enter a room in such a way that everyone looks up? How does your own perception change when you consciously claim space? These exercises are often a real ‘aha’ moment – especially for models who have previously been more reserved.

“The moment a model stops thinking and starts being – that is exactly the moment the camera loves.”

Catwalk and walking technique

The catwalk block is what many are most looking forward to – and it still manages to surprise. Because it’s not just about step patterns and turns. It’s about telling a story on the runway. Our runway and catwalk tips are directly integrated into the practical exercises. The coaches analyse every step, correct details and provide specific feedback.

Anyone who wants to walk in the big shows – whether it’s the Berlin Fashion Week, the New York Fashion Week or the Milan Fashion Week – lays the foundation for this here.

Structure: How the coaching day is organised

Time of Day Topic Method Duration
Morning Agency Skills & Industry Know-how Workshop, Q&A approx. 2 hours
Mid-morning Personality, Facial Expression, Body Language Individual work & Group work approx. 2.5 hours
Afternoon Body Language & Stage Presence Practical Exercises approx. 2 hours
Late Afternoon Catwalk Training Walk Analysis, Corrections approx. 2.5 hours

The day is intensively planned, but never overwhelming. Between the sessions there are breaks during which the new faces can exchange ideas, ask questions and absorb what they have learned. These informal moments are often just as valuable as the structured programme.

What the Coaching Means for the Career

A coaching day is not an end, but a beginning. Those who have internalised the content approach castings differently. Whoever knows what a professional model portfolio for a casting should look like, and at the same time has learned how they appear in the room, has a clear advantage.

The coaching is also an important step for models who are wondering whether modelling as a side job is possible – or whether they want to take the plunge into the professional business. Both paths are valid, and our coaching provides the tools for both directions.

National and international perspectives

Those who think big look beyond Germany. Whether becoming a model in Frankfurt, becoming a model in London or becoming a model in New York – the foundation laid during the coaching is internationally valid. Body language, presence and aura work on every catwalk in the world, whether at the Paris Fashion Week or the London Fashion Week.

And those wondering which of the Big 4 Fashion Weeks offer the best opportunities will also receive a realistic picture during the coaching. It is particularly interesting for ambitious models to learn how modelling abroad works and which agency networks can help.

Financial Clarity from the Start

A serious coaching also speaks plainly about money. Many aspiring models ask themselves: How much does a model earn really? Or: Do I have to pay money to a model agency? The answer is clearly no – a model agency without fees is the standard at reputable agencies. Those who didn’t know this will learn it at the latest during the coaching block on agency skills. The topic of recognising a reputable model agency is also openly addressed.

Frequently asked questions about model coaching

Who is model coaching suitable for?

The coaching is aimed at New Faces who are newly with the agency or about to start. It is also open to Curvy Models and anyone who is wondering whether there is a model agency without a minimum size. What matters is not appearance, but motivation and willingness to develop further. Our coaching is equally open to models looking for specialised training – such as Modelcoaching Behind The Scenes or knowledge about fashion brands with C and their requirements.

How do I apply for the coaching?

The first step is to apply to the agency. All necessary information can be found directly on our Apply now page. After a successful acceptance, New Faces will be invited to the next coaching session. A separate registration is not required.

What should I bring to the coaching?

Bring comfortable, plain clothing that shows off your silhouette – no baggy hoodies or joggers. High heels are useful for the catwalk block, but not essential. Also bring a notebook and pen for notes, your current measurements and a good dose of openness. Anyone who already has a portfolio for the casting is welcome to show it.

How many models take part in the coaching?

The group sizes are deliberately kept small so that each participant receives sufficient individual feedback. At the same time, the group is large enough to benefit from the group exercises. Anyone who takes a look at the Top 10 modelling agencies will notice: this intensive support format is a real unique selling point of our agency.
