The Advertising Model – Model for Advertising & Sales Talent

Advertising Model – one of the career goals of many aspiring models is to eventually be seen in a commercials or advertising clip on television or online. Billboards or print advertising also count among the fields of activity for an advertising model. For models, as a modelling agency in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Cologne, we give a little insight! Not only are the earnings for the model higher than, for example, in the area of Catwalk, but also the recognisability of a model can increase enormously through an advertising campaign of a successful company or brand. This in turn means that the model not only gains valuable experience for the future, but also the market value of the model increases. And seriously – who wouldn’t like to be seen smiling down from a huge billboard? Or generally be associated with an exclusive company or brand? But what exactly is hidden behind the term advertising model?

Classic Model Jobs: Advertising, Billboards and Advertising Campaigns

What makes a good photo model or advertising model?

The term advertising model is a specific term for a model who is particularly active in the field of advertising, i.e. advertisements, billboards, commercial films, advertising clips, etc. Such models are also referred to as Commercial Models. They have a nice face (according to social norms), look natural and have a good figure, but not too thin.

Advertising model – requirements and prerequisites

Size is not necessarily insignificant as a fashion model, however, in the advertising industry even smaller models (for example, at a height of 170 cm) have a chance. Someone who seems unthinkable on the catwalk can be exactly the right type for advertising. The girl or boy next door with a friendly aura? Perfect. A radiant smile? Mandatory. After all, the customer should be able to identify with the models.

Neat appearance – the A and O in the modelling business

Nevertheless, the model gives the company a certain image or reinforces an already established company image. For this to work, the model must be able to identify with the company, and vice versa, the company must be able to identify with the model. In a cosmetics chain, a photographic model with acne-prone skin and an asymmetrical face is unthinkable, among other things. Similarly, in a hair advertising model, there is a basic rule: the model must not have any damaged hair. Thus, the exact type logically depends on the products and services being promoted.

Advertising models – what do they actually earn?

The profession of a commercial model is particularly popular as the payment for these jobs is significantly higher than, for example, for fashion models on the catwalk. It is essential for a commercial model to be represented by a modelling agency that sets a high (justified) daily fee from the outset, as it is possible that follow-up jobs of this kind in the same product categories may no longer be available. After all, the model should authentically represent the product being advertised. The recognisability of a model and a brand is crucial, which is why the faces of a major brand are rarely booked.

Advertising, commercial photography and commercials for brands

Advertising is a broad field within marketing. But what exactly does it include? And why does advertising count among the best-paid jobs in the modelling industry? Alongside poster advertising, flyers, catalogues, advertisements and general print advertising, advertising clips for both TV and the internet also fall within the scope of advertising. Through these instruments, such as for example the media channels, companies try to enhance or establish their image in the market, consciously and deliberately.

The big brands and their marketing strategies

Well-crafted marketing strategies lie behind what appears to be a simple advertising campaign, which is disseminated through the media. Companies aim to directly address their target audience and communicate with them on another level, influencing them in the process. The goal is for customers to feel addressed, identify with the company, and ultimately increase the sales market. In order for the company to achieve these processes optimally, it is important to find the right models for the appropriate advertising. These are ultimately the ones who convey the company’s message to the customer.

Requirements/Expectations of a Model in the Advertising Industry

The requirements for an advertising model are diverse. Not only does the appropriate appearance, a good figure, a certain height and a pretty face count. This is certainly a prerequisite to even get started in the modelling business.

Confident, authentic and natural

Success as a commercial model will only be achieved by someone who fully expresses themselves in front of the camera and ambitiously works on themselves. A commercial model must feel comfortable in their own skin. No matter how many pairs of eyes are watching you shave your legs, spread a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, or jump rope.

Authenticity is also essential (you must stand for the corresponding brand and appear genuine and natural) and a friendly aura. Every viewer would prefer the smart, lively girl next door over the arrogant prima donna. However, it is also important for the friendly neighbour girl to display a natural self-confidence. A quiet mouse has no place in the advertising industry.

The consumer should be able to remember you and associate the product with your strong presence. Because every person would like to be confident, energetic, and positive. A radiant smile is therefore just as top priority as good skin and beautiful hair. Good body care is a prerequisite. However, the absolutely decisive argument for selecting a commercial model is acting talent. You must be able to put yourself into a role and embody it with full conviction.
